Generic Procoralan (Ivabradine)

Common Use
Procoralan is mainly used to treat chronic stable angina and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. It helps reduce symptoms such as chest pain and fatigue by slowing the heart rate. It is usually prescribed when beta-blockers are not tolerated or need to be combined.

Dosage and Direction
The usual adult dose is 5–7.5 mg twice daily with meals. The doctor may adjust the dose based on heart rate and patient response. Take it at the same times every day and do not stop the medication suddenly without medical advice.

Precautions
Before using Procoralan, inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure, bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, or liver problems. Regular heart rate monitoring is recommended. Avoid grapefruit and alcohol as they may affect the drug’s action.

Contraindications
Do not use Procoralan if you have severe bradycardia, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, or severe hypotension. It is also contraindicated in patients with sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, or hypersensitivity to ivabradine.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include bradycardia (slow heart rate), dizziness, fatigue, or visual disturbances (phosphenes). Severe reactions may include heart rhythm abnormalities or fainting. Contact your doctor if unusual symptoms occur.

Drug Interaction
Procoralan can interact with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, clarithromycin) or inducers, which can affect drug levels. Combining with other heart rate-lowering drugs may increase the risk of bradycardia. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose
Overdose may cause severe bradycardia, hypotension, or heart rhythm disturbances. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Emergency treatment may include monitoring heart function and supportive care.

Storage
Store Procoralan at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
